Unmistakable originals of chronometry are the undisputed specialty of the IWC Schaffhausen watch factory in Schaffhausen, in north-east Switzerland: the famous Da Vinci with its perpetual calendar is one such. These naturally included the first "Grande Complication" for the wrist, but also the super-antimagnetic "Ingenieur" and the diver's watches, which are capable of withstanding water pressure even down to a depth of 2000 meters - and the only diver's watches with a mechanical depth gauge. From IWC come the professional "Pilot's watches".

Limited edition of 3000 watches in stainless steel case with a Perpetual Calendar Mechanical chronograph movement that can be easily set (days, months, and years) using the crown without correction buttons.

The Aquatimer Automatic 2000 is ideally suited for underwater use. The striking external rotating bezel, the hallmark of the new Aquatimer generation, can be turned easily under water, even when wearing gloves. No fewer than six coatings of Super-LumiNova* are applied to the underside of the sapphire-glass ring. Thanks to this highly effective luminescent material, the elapsed dive time is clearly visible even in poor lighting conditions.

The model that originally inspired it, the Mark 11, went on to become one of the most famous pilot’s watches of all time. The Mark XVI, 30110-calibre automatic movement has a 42-hour power reserve and shows the date as well as the time. Protection against magnetic fields and a glass secured against drops in air pressure make the Mark XVI a reliable companion for everyday and extreme situations.

In a family with such a clear commitment to discretion as the Portofino, a chronograph might well be considered utterly out of place. Unless, of course, the intermediate and aggregate timing functions made possible by the 79320 calibre are so meticulously and discreetly integrated into the dial as in this model.

The superb appearance of the Portugieser Chronograph is as much a source of fascination to watch lovers as the 79350 calibre with its rate of 28,800 beats per hour.

The Portugieser Chronograph is as much a source of fascination to watch lovers as the 79350 calibre with its rate of 28,800 beats per hour. This guarantees the legendary precision you would expect of a watch with a provenance in marine travel.   The Portugieser Chronograph comes with the features typical of a Portugieser watch: embossed Arabic numerals, tapering swallow-style hands and recessed subdials for the minutes
and seconds counters.

The Spitfire Mark XVI, successor to the popular Spitfire Mark XV, is a millimeter larger in diameter than its predecessor, giving the proportions of the watch even better balance. The functional design of the dial takes up the IWC’s Pilot’s Watch tradition.

Following the successful launch of the Big Ingenieur, it was only a matter of time before this coveted giant of a watch became available with an IWC-manufactured chronograph movement. And – for the first time in this watch family – it also came with the analogue display developed by IWC for stop times longer than a minute: the minutes and hours that elapse once the chronograph is started can be read off just like the ordinary time and require no addition.
